Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game’s are a dominant form of the online gaming community. These games command a wealth of resources and hold an abundance of player subscriptions. Some are completely free while others may require some fees to be paid. Either way a tumultuous and ever shifting world will unfold before the player, allowing for rich and unique experiences. The player can even act as the character with friends, to build a unique side story within the game world.
MMORPG’s tend to be quite complicated to the unexperienced, but become second nature eventually. In these games, the player creates a character, deciding on several different features from looks to combat expertise, and then enters the world. There are usually thousands of quests or missions available for the player as the character gains experience. The player may choose what the character does, possibly even forgoing the quest system. Usually there is a “level” system as well. As the character completes tasks or defeats enemies the character usually gains “experience” or possibly a benefit to certain skills. When enough experience is gained the character “levels up” and becomes stronger, opening the way for new and powerful abilities as well as more game content. MMORPG’s demand a level of dedication, knowledge, and patience to get the most out of the game. The player will feel a sense of progress, and maybe even notice their impact on the world and its community. Although these online games can be quite the time sink a lot of fun is there to be had.
